
Event Production Manager

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role, acting as the bridge between design, workshop, and on-site delivery, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest standard.
You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end production lifecycle, from translating design concepts into build-ready outputs through to overseeing workshop delivery and on-site execution.
You’ll lead both project delivery and workshop functions, while setting the technical standard across the business.
KEY SKILLS
Technical Leadership & Delivery
Own all technical drawings, build packs, and production documentation
Translate creative concepts into practical, buildable solutions
Ensure all outputs are aligned with design intent, budget, and timelines
Maintain and improve technical standards and drawing libraries
Production & Workshop Management
Define and manage the production strategy across all projects
Work closely with the Workshop Manager to:
Plan workload and capacity
Allocate labour and resources
Maintain quality and efficiency standards
Monitor production progress and proactively resolve risks
Project Oversight
Oversee project delivery via the Senior Project Manager
Ensure alignment across design, production, logistics, and site teams
Act as the escalation point for technical and delivery challenges
Drive programme control, risk management, and change processes
Design for Manufacture & Value Engineering
Provide input during concept and design phases
Lead value engineering initiatives to optimise materials, cost, and build efficiency
Ensure designs are practical, compliant, and deliverable
Supplier & Subcontractor Management
Approve technical specifications for outsourced elements
Support procurement across areas such as:
Graphics, AV, electrics, metalwork, upholstery
Ensure suppliers meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations
Site Delivery & Compliance
Oversee technical delivery on-site where required
Ensure compliance with venue regulations and safety standards
Review and approve RAMS and method statements
Support issue resolution during build and de-rig phases
Leadership & Team Management
Directly manage:
Senior Project Manager
Workshop Manager
Set clear standards across production, quality, and delivery
Coach and support cross-functional teams
Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, and team development
Quality, H&S & Continuous Improvement
Champion health & safety and quality standards across all operations
Lead post-project reviews and drive continuous improvement
Implement scalable processes to support business growth
RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience
Proven background in a senior production or technical role within exhibitions, events, or live environments
Strong experience managing working drawings, build packs, and fabrication
Experience overseeing both workshop production and site delivery
Previous line management experience
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of custom exhibition builds and structures
Knowledge of materials, finishes, AV, lighting, and electrical integration
Confident reviewing and producing technical drawings
Understanding of venue constraints and regulations
Leadership & Commercial Awareness
Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills
Commercially aware able to balance quality, cost, and timelines
Calm, decisive, and solutions-focused under pressure
Working Pattern
Based at workshop and office with regular travel to UK and European venues
Flexibility required around project timelines, build schedules, and live events
